Rest Reviewed

Disappeared into a world of my own, was ill and felt so inside myself. Missed this space, here I am to tell you about my rest time.

Knitting all week, a pair of slippers long sought.

Used Coco Knits' lovely pattern, http://store.cocoknits.com/products/pleated-ballet-flats.html. Finally, a seamless, in-the-round and sweet lookin' pattern--I searched and searched. This pair has stretched from my winter socks so I'll have to knit up a summer pair, too. In white, I think. And maybe another for a friend, and another!
The project grounded me, finally, in the need to check and obtain a proper gauge. My first attempt would fit a child. Interestingly, at the same time, I realized that I need better technique when spinning. I thought the coarse, hard yarn I'd been spinning was due to the wool but turns out that in my hands even merino grows rough. So...I stretch myself out of pure meditation into technique.

We had a huge snowstorm one day which covered all of spring's juicy work. The day reminded me so much of Russia, of which I am reading in Anna Karenina.
Luckily, we've had many luscious sunny days since then...Even the forest floor is alive with shadow.

Two weeks of illness brought me daily to here, the pipsissewa patch above stormwell. What a gift--the walk, the gathering, the medicine. I think it was in realising this gift that I finally healed. Which was, um, last night. And which causes me reflect on other points of unease/disease in my life: walking towards them. Hoping for hope.

Off to devour one of my favorite sup's, steamed kale and sweet potato loaded with butter and a hunk of cheese. Mmmm...
Be well,
k.
