the human form
spent the day with a few of my favorite things: women, crafting, waldorf. and a never-ending cup of tea, refilled with care by our teacher. got to bring a dear friend to the school, show her some nooks and crannies, vistas and stones. and stitched and stitched, a dollie for a little one dear to me. how quickly he became alive, so that when i turned and tucked him i felt conscious of his pricks and angles.
so glad i went-- i feel nourished tonight. and reflecting on the power of the doll. they were so alive for me as a child-- i still remember the feel of donna's blond hair, ricci's soft skin (i had a thing for la bamba...) and those dolls were my favorites, cloth and silky. their care was engrossing.
yesterday i watched a three year old brush a doll's hair with such attention and pleasure. we learn to love in so many ways.
