summertime

mom's here. she slows me down and settles me. we spend hours at the river, eat a lot and talk about sewing (she's mended, i'm still bustling but hopeful). we set the intention to be more honest with each other. thirty-plus years of patterns...we're doing pretty well. glad she's here, across all the mountains and waters, in my home.

the piggies are gone. miss their snorts, smiles and affection. glad for the garden (!), the fresh air and the peace of mind. we've been digging, raking and sowing like mad, despite the heat. hoping to win the race against grass with clover and buckwheat. also plopped in ten berries and a small load of flowers. very, very excited. pix to come.

summer camp is here. beautiful things for beautiful little people. i love my job.

writing every morn and that keeps me grounded in myself. writing to clear. thoroughly enjoyed last week's media fast--a strong reminder of all i love in life. not being able to read or pin or look up little things led me into the garden most of all. and camp preparations. and, surprisingly, to the telephone. because i'm not in social media, i didn't realize how often i use the internet to connect with others. email, obviously, but also the everyday little questions like, what do i do next in this pig-tilled mess of a place? i enjoyed asking my neighbours for advice so much, i plan to do more of it.

hope your summer evenings are lush with cool breezes, fresh food, family and dancing.

take care,
k
